Standing on Yakushima, a World Heritage Site where ancient nature still lives and breathes, the Buddha Cedar (Buddha Sugi) is said to be around 1,800 years old.

It is believed that the tree was given its name because the countless burls forming on its trunk resemble the figure of the Buddha.

This time, water was sampled from a spring near the Buddha Cedar, and its water crystals were photographed. The process revealed a large ring-shaped crystal adorned with numerous branches and leaves. Its appearance seems to reflect the Buddha Cedar itself, possessing a quiet beauty that evokes the mystical essence of Yakushima’s nature.
